Apple TV not connecting to computer

My Apple TV is not connecting to my computer.


The wifi is good, I have restored the Apple TV, and started 'Home Sharing' on both Apple TV and computer using the same Apple ID and password. I have quit iTunes and relaunched it and stopped and restarted Home Sharing again on iTunes.


Any more ideas please? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like something on your router may have changed. Maybe blocking the Bonjour service or something similar.


Try restarting your router. some have a power switch, other's will require you unplug it.


If it still won't work, some settings may have been updated by your ISP and may be preventing home sharing from working.


You would need to access your router's configuration page to check or contact your ISP.

Thanks for the response.


I get the screen as above, but when I select 'Computers' the message i get is 'To access your iTunes library on your computer, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes using 'my Apple ID'.

I have turned Home Sharing on both on the computer and on the Apple TV, more than once. I have also restored the Apple TV and then started Home Sharing.


My network is WiFi and shows as being a good signal.


Computer is connected using WiFi; the AppleTv is on WiFi. They are in different rooms. The Apple TV worked OK, but now doesn't. I have upgraded to OS 10.11.6 since I last successfully used Apple TV.
